Are you in SHAPE?
Yesterday's sermons dealt with the broad topic of "Stewardship of our Gifts." As always, weekly handouts can be downloaded here. Sermon audio files are also available (English and German). What follows are a few additional insights and questions for your consideration. Be encouraged as you work through this topic on your own or with your care group.
1. Did you catch Pastor Don's use of the word "chattel"? Do you know what it means?
2. Being created in God's image means that we are to take sexual purity seriously, whether married or single. Do you have any suggestions on how we might best address this in our congregation? How do you understand this?
3. We are created to work. The two extremes (making work our god, or being lazy) aren't biblical. How do we find the balance in the middle?
4. Here are the references of some of the lists of spiritual gifts listed in the New Testament: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 28; Romans 12:1-8; and Ephesians 4:7-13. These lists aren't inclusive, and there is some repetition between them. But why don't you create a list from these texts and reflect on your own spiritual gift(s)?
God has created us in his image for a wonderful purpose. How will you and I respond as stewards of our gifts, talents, experiences, personalities, etc.? Consider the following quote and what it means for our walk with Jesus: "We all have a lifetime of experiences."
